Which leader to use for the tank or pike fishing on the fly or at sea?

Knowing that it is absolutely necessary to proscribe steel leaders which completely break the stroke of the streamer and given the current price of braided titanium leaders, our supplier sought a braid that could withstand the teeth of Sir Esox.

In the many nylons and braids tested, he discovered a brand new braid with a power far superior to the majority of braids, including Dyneema braids: the SYNTEX braid.

This flat braid is made up of a multitude of filaments giving it great flexibility and an almost zero coefficient of elasticity (immediate feeling of the touch).

This multitude of filaments also allows the catch of a pike even if its teeth have broken some of them, which makes SYNTEX different from Dyneema braids.

Our supplier also tried dry fishing with a 6/100 Syntex tip on the crystal clear waters of Austrian rivers and, surprise, the trout came up and caught the flies like with a classic nylon !!
Obviously, this braid did not bother them at all and the flexibility of the 6/100th allowed for delicate poses. Same in nymph.

So, if you are a tank fisherman with large trout, do not hesitate to try the 6/100th, which few trout will be able to break with a tested resistance of more than 5 kg! Ideal not to tire the fish too much in no-kill.
