What leader should I use for reservoir or pike fishing with a fly or at sea?

Knowing that it is absolutely necessary to prohibit steel leaders which completely break the swimming of the streamer and given the current price of braided titanium leaders, our supplier looked for a braid that could resist the teeth of Sir Esox.

Among the many nylons and braids tested he discovered a completely new braid with a power far superior to the majority of braids, including Dyneema braids: the SYNTEX braid.

This flat braid is made up of a multitude of filaments giving it great flexibility and a coefficient of elasticity that is almost zero (immediate feel of the touch).

This multitude of filaments also allows the capture of a pike even if its teeth have broken some of them, which makes SYNTEX different from Dyneema braids.

Our supplier also tried dry fly fishing with a Syntex 6/100 tippet on the crystal clear waters of Austrian rivers and, surprise, the trout came up and took the flies as with a classic nylon !!
Obviously, this braid did not bother them at all and the flexibility of the 6/100th allowed for delicate placements. Same with nymphing.

So, if you are a reservoir fisherman with big trout, do not hesitate to try the 6/100ths, which few trout will be able to break with a tested resistance of more than 5 kg! Ideal for not tiring the fish too much in no-kill.
